Drug and alcohol counselling courses
We know that there will be a range of knowledge and experience in every session that we facilitate and we invite people to share what they already know and build on that knowledge.
Our courses are an opportunity for staff to take time out of their usual roles, to work together to share and increase their existing knowledge and reflect on how they work.
At Drugtrain we use PowerPoint but try to avoid those long and boring training sessions where a trainer just reads through the slides.
We use a range of training styles to meet every participant’s learning needs, a typical day might include whole group discussions, small group work, quizzes, videos as well as trainer input.
Drugtrain invites questions, and if we can’t answer them there and then maybe someone else in the group can. If none of us can then we will find out together.
What they say about our training
“I thought I knew more so very much filled a gap in my learning. This has inspired me to do more reading on the topic and use harm-reduction techniques in my support with students.”

About James
“I’ve worked in drug treatment services for over 20 years in a variety of roles.
I am passionate about providing training to people new to working in this sector or those who might have been here for a while.
I want people who attend Drugtrain courses to leave feeling that they have learnt something that they can use with the people they work with.
But more importantly, I want them to feel inspired, motivated and with a sense of renewed enthusiasm for the work that they do.”
